| The Studio |
 |
The studio is a place where the artist can think and develop ideas. My studio is in the basement. The studio is an important part of my living space. Many artists choose to have their studios away from home. This is a fine practice if time and money allow. However, for eleven years I have had a studio space in my home. It is because of this set-up I can have daily contact with the soul, even if the only time I am able to squeeze out of the day is drinking my morning cup of coffee while sitting in my grandmother's chair that graces my studio.

All of my linoleum and wood blocks are started the same way; by drawing directly on the surface I will be cutting. I explore the use of perspective in my work. This image shows the vanishing point that grounds most of my prints and drawings.

After I finish the drawing on the block, I start to carve away the areas that are going to remain "white spaces." You can see an example of the the tools used to carve. They are Speedball Linoleum Block tools, nothing too special.

And here is the first step of the printing process, inking the block. A large roller is layered with ink, that is then transfered to the block. After this step, comes the placing of the paper on the block and the printing.
