Time to write

As a parent, days drift together with hectic schedules and daily obligations. These days drift together and all of the sudden, you look up and your child is already 7. I’m sure in a few years, I have much the same recounting. It really is true that the days go slowly, but the years go fast. I look back on the art work that I’ve made over the last seven years. I look at how the work changed and is still changing. I have had to adjust how to work more than a few times. First, I had to figure out what making art looked like with a life partner. Then, I had to figure out what making art looked like as a mother. All the while, I was maintaining a full time job, and even had a career change in there for fun. So now, I have left the full time jobs working for someone else, and started full time at Potter Art Studio. Again, I find myself trying to figure out what making art looks like. As an artist with a day job, every minute spent in the studio is not to be wasted. (Originally written on December 5, 2018. I did not publish it that day, as it wasn’t until now that I decided to “really start” publishing a blog.)

The Day The Art Teacher Quit.

In June of 2018, I decided to leave my posh (sarcastic) career as a private school art teacher to do what I've always wanted to do and make a go at making money on my art somehow.  This is the first time in over 20 years that I am no longer an artist with a day job.  I'm just an artist.  Who knows, I maybe driving an Uber in a few months, but I really must give it a try.  It has become all too clear to me that unless you do this life now, it will pass you by and you'll always wonder if you could have done it.  So some things that were accomplished this were a group art show at Christ Church Cathedral, a solo show at the Grand Theatre Gallery in Frankfort, KY from July to September.  In 2019, I have a solo show scheduled in Louisville at the Little Loom House and the future is bright for 2020.

I am also working on several ideas to present soon, and will get back with you on that...

I'll try to do this "blog" thing more often, but I really doubt too many people will read it. I'll check the analytics latter for an update on that last statement.
